I have been involved in the marine fender industry for over thirty years. Starting with Svedala Trellex in the mid-1990s as product manager for marine fenders in the Americas and Japan, I was responsible for all marine fender operations in that region. Since leaving that company in 2002, I have operated as a consulting engineer for port projects throughout the world and have supplied marine fender systems when asked for projects in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. This included time spent in many foreign countries working with port engineers as well as marine fender manufacturers to attempt to improve their product. This also included ownership in two companies in the marine fender industry.

Part of my work with marine fender manufacturers led to spending two-plus years in India, where I was exposed to the numerous excellent manufacturers in many industries located there. As I began to tone down work in the marine fender industry, I took up the challenge of introducing excellent Indian manufacturers producing construction materials and equipment to the US market. I graduated with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from The Ohio State University, then entered service with the US Navy, where I underwent training in nuclear propulsion. I served 11+ years in the nuclear submarine force, becoming a submarine engineer with certification from the US Atomic Energy Commission to supervise the operation of a nuclear reactor.
